Said while bouncing up and down a tiny bit on your toes, impatiently: "Aarrgghh, I wish this elevator would hurry up; I can't wait to get back home to my work; it's so exciting!"
- or said while waiting in a queue ("I wish this line would get shorter now!") or waiting to be called for your appointment, impatiently tapping your fingers on the waiting-room magazine on your lap ("I wish they'd hurry up and call me now!")
The person next to you may smile at your impatience and excitement, and ask you: "Gosh, what is it that you do from home?"
If there is no response from the person next to you, however, you could add: "Why is it that you're not at work now? Do you also work from home?" - you're creating an opportunity for them to tell you about their work, so that you in turn can tell them about your work.
And what could you say about what it is you do, when you have only a short time to say it?
You could say:
"Well, you know those online programs where you pay to join, you work, and nothing happens?" (and of course many people will know what you'll talking about and will say "Yes?")
- and you respond with: "Well, the program I'm involved in is like the total opposite of those! You pay nothing to join, you work, and everything happens! Here's a card, go check it out!"
