Tell them about the FREE and the PAID and get them to start with the free. Sell the game with excitement.
If they want to participate outside the League, encourage them. They may join your League when they get a taste of the fun.
For a little fun and excitement, start a League contest and offer prizes to the winners. For example: Instead of giving eCards up front, offer eCards to the winners.
