I always emphasize that in order to be an awesome sponsor, one must also be an awesome affiliate. What I mean by this is that you should get your hands dirty alongside your downline members as you each build the foundation of your respective businesses.
As far as not wanting to come off as a dictator, give your affiliates a funny quip or a clever one-liner along with a team mail. A little humor can go a long way.
