The best way to look at this question is maybe " how long should I allow my affiliates to depend on me?" The answer therefore is for as long as is necessary!
However there is no right or wrong answer as each affiliate will present a different set of circumstances from the next. As sponsors we are duty bound to help our affiliates at all times since their success is directly linked to ours we have had help from our upline before!
Some affiliates are slower than others and will probably need help longer than others but my experience in SFI so far is once an affiliate gets the hang of it they wean themselves off. They actually start helping others therefore in the majority of cases we don't really go on forever helping the same people.
Keeping an open door policy is the best way forward, and it usually brings better results!
