The trick to effectively promoting SFI and TripleClicks through television is packaging your message in a way that allows the viewer's short attention span to pick up an interest in your promotion and ACT on it. Now, your audience and your promotion itself are highly tied to each other, so the individual strategies there can vary widely--retirees will be attracted to different promotions than will students, for example--so instead, I'll concentrate on the ACTING part of it. After all, if you don't get a response, your promotion will be worthless.
Now, your Gateway Links are your way of getting commissions and other direct personal rewards, but the drawback of television is that people can't directly click through to
http://whichevergatewayyouuse.com/12345678 (or whatever your affiliate number is)
so you have to make this more accessible. There are two ways:
1) using an URL shortener like TinyURL.com that allows you to set a custom URL. For example, sending someone to
http://tinyurl.com/hotlink
will be easier for them to remember.
2) Setting up an easy-to-remember URL for your own website, like
http://sfirocks.com (not taken, at time of writing)
becomes more inviting because it puts you in more direct control of their continued experience. This may be worth the additional effort or expense.
Once they make the effort of responding, it only remains to "close the sale," either directly (in the case of TripleClicks products or through guiding the conversation, as you can through your own website. The rest is up to you.
