Begin with the intention of doing well what you are doing at the time and work into the other facets of the business as you become more experienced with what you are already doing. I'm not saying to become an expert in anything before you move on, but to really get a grasp on the how's and why's of it.
There really is an unlimited number of tools that SFI supplies to us. We have both web sites, SFI and TC. Each has many pages with different tools on each. Then, we have our main menu, the grey/black one with all the departments of SFI on it. Each department has multiple tools. A tool is something that is designed to help with a certain type of work. To make the work easier.
One of the things we do when we first enter SFI is to begin doing our To Do List. This help us break SFI down into parts, explains what they are, what we must do, etc. As we begin to see the big picture, we also begin to realize what we have to do and how to do it. We can't memorizer it all, but we can learn were to find the tools we need. SFI keeps a neat workshop, so our chore of selecting tools is easier.
Instead of trying to use every tool in the shed, we must decide wisely what we need to use to bring a certain part of our business into maximum production. As we go from one area of our business to another and another, we will end up using all the tools. But for now, only bring to the table what you need for the moment.
Have you ever watched a young child play all day with a box and a ribbon, and then when the floor is packed with toys, not have anything to play with? It's easier to focus on a few items than to have to sort through many. Use our tools wisely.
