I think this is a very interesting question and have found the answers pretty interesting as well. What I find is that the ONE thing that my affiliates struggle with is getting started. I address it by providing step by step directions to my affiliates. I then ask them to e-mail me once they have completed the step. I also watch their VP Ledger and if I see that they have taken the action step I reach back out to them. I will offer assistance such as including them in my co-op if they become an EA2 and providing gift certificates to help them achieve EA status.
While this does not always engage the affiliate there are many times that it will and I believe in those instances it is a win/win as the affiliate feels supported and I feel rewarded that I am able to work with them.
