Reading this question prompted me to change my welcome letter. I noticed that it wasn't very enthusiastic. I believe we should try and make a good first impression and the welcome letter is a great place to do it.
In my welcome letter the tips I would give my PSA's would be:
motivational, influential and real life. I would include a motivational quote. I would also stress to them to be patient and read about SFI and what it has to offer, and although they probably won't grasp a full understanding of it I would encourage them to stay motivated. I would encourage them to take a look at my leadership page, and also remember to log into SFI everyday and do the tabs on the home page. They will be able to learn a little more about SFI everyday. The number one tip of course is to never give up. In time they will learn all they need to know about SFI and how to make it work for them. I also encourage them to introduce themselves to the rest of the upline.
