Win an auction yourself, in fact the more you win the more they will feel the need to participate. I quit trying to win an auction. I found it very frustrating and time consuming. I would watch the auction until something distracted me and then I'd lose. Often when I thought I was close to winning.
Winning auctions on the web are incredibly more difficult than winning an auction where you can assess the body language and make other informed impressions of those whom you are bidding against. Still, There are ways to check the people bidding against you in on line auctions. if you take advantage of Bid log and spend a few minutes checking out those you are bidding against. Before the auction starts, look for recent and repeat winners. This gives you some idea of whether the person bidding against will have a lot of Tcredits. If they have just won a lot of them, or are high up - GTL and above. Make yourself a list of those who are higher up in SFI such as a Diamond or PTL. They will have a lot more Tcredits than you do. Unless you do this regularly, probably will need to do daily, to gain enough information to be beneficial.
I have lost well over one or two hundred Tcredits in a single auction. Be sure you set how many you can afford and stick with that number. Check the times of day most auctions are won and bid at off times, or on UP auctions. These give you a better chance at winning.
Avoid auctions where it is something you have a burning desire to own because you can get caught up in these auctions. Wait until the auction seems to be winding down and then bid. If you win it will take less Tcredits.
Start an auction, sometimes you can win in the early stages. If it is something you want, start, then wait until later and jump in so you use less Tcredits.
