Set up proper communications with your new PSAs right from the word ‘Go’
As soon as you receive notification from SFI of a new PSA, immediately have a look at his/her profile. Learn a little about the new PSA.
If the person is online, make contact straight away. Say welcome, say who you are, say good to have you on board, welcome and that you are sending him/her some brief details of what to do from now on. Make sure you do what you say you would do.
If the person is not online, send a welcome letter.
Emphasize right from the beginning that you are there for them and that they can approach you with any problems they have regarding SFI.
You want your new PSAs to feel welcomed, to feel that SFI is not so daunting, that you are someone they can work with and that if they need help they can always come to you.
The content and tone of your welcome letter and all your other messages from now on must reflect these.
In my leadership page, I have a brief summary of who I am. I direct all my PSAs to that page and invite them to read and find out a little bit about me. I believe this is important, they should know something about their sponsors.
If you have team contests and incentives invited your new PSAs to take part in them straight away.
Always try to confirm as early as possible the best contact for the new PSAs. Try also to find out their preferred language and also point out to them that each SFI page can be translated. I have found that many PSAs put down English as their primary language but soon it becomes evident that they are struggling with the English language.
Having set this up at the start of the relationship, you now need to maintain it.
