There are basically 4 factors in my opinion that put people off, regarding online purchases and payments as far as SFI/TC is concerned; shipping costs, lack of payment facility, specific country restrictions and fraud.
1. Some people have all it takes to make purchases and payments online but may reside in far away countries from the supplier, attracting prohibitive shipping costs as a result. This often discourages affected affiliates. However, you can mitigate this problem by introducing and guiding your affiliates to Local Pay ECAs, so that they can purchases from ECA in close proximity to their places of residence, to reduce shipping costs. Patronising Local Pay ECAs has the potential to totally eliminate shipping costs with 'will call' (direct pick up) option.
2. Another reason is that many people cannot avail of the payment options allowed by TC, so they erroneously think they don't have a choice and a chance, especially when they have no credits cards. However, you can get them involved and active by letting them know all alternative payment methods and if they still cannot afford any, then emphasise the usefulness of Tcurrency. With Tcurrency, they can pay for purchases at TC. They can purchase Tcurrency from participating ECAs from their country/region in order to agree local payment methods or from any other ECA who can agree affordable payment method with the customer.
3. Fraud is one major reason why so many people are uncomfortable with online purchases and payments because of what they hear, read or have experienced themselves. However, let your prospects or affiliates know that TC is not different from any other major sites like EBay, Amazon, Alibaba etc and that payment related fraud, like identity theft, is a business risk in the industry as a whole. Go further by highlighting the security features at TC and that with all the time you have been here, like me, TC has been upgrading its security features to combat modern and advanced identity fraud techniques, in any shape or form.
4. The last point has to do with regulations and restrictions on imports and online commerce by certain countries or regions. This problem is exacerbated by restrictions on the provision payment facilities/tools in these countries. This is one of the reasons some affiliates are complaining that some auctions items cannot be shipped to their countries for example. So what do you do about this? May be something like; making them feel that all is not lost because there are very many other products to choose from that may offer similar benefits. Again, encourage them to purchase from local ECAs where possible, in order to avoid import and other restrictions.
In conclusion, I will add that there are other reasons like lack of awareness and technological advancement, including poverty on national/individual level that impeded the acceptance of online business transaction as the modern day ‘Eldorado’, instead they become stuck in the traditional way of transacting business.
