"Better" is a relative term and the answer depends completely on the questioner because if he/she is forward, outgoing, and comfortable speaking to strangers, the answer may be "offline" recruiting.
This style of recruiting will probably be more effective for this type of person because it has the advantage of face-to-face and skin-to- skin contact. That is, you (& your prospect) can look each other in the eye and shake hands which immediately instills a slight sense of intimacy and most often also friendship. If you achieve those 2 things, you are already 1/2 way to "closing the deal". Put them together with sound knowledge about SFI and are able to answer your prospects questions with honest, solid information, and you almost certainly have not just a new PSA, but a future diamond.
If, on the other hand, you are a bit shy, and uneasy meeting people this way, you will most likely be more comfortable and therefore more effective with "offline" recruiting because you can "meet-and-greet" your prospect without being uncomfortable and so long as you are also honest and truthful with your answers to their questions and can chat with them in a friendly and (This is important) anything but arrogant manner or without seeming to be anything but caring about them, you again are 1/2 way home. The downside to this is that convincing them you really do care about THEM usually takes longer and is not quite as solid a "friendship" as a face-to-face contact.
In short, the only "BETTER" in this answer is "Which ever is easiest, more comfortable and most efficient for you!
