When talking about building their downline I presume that you are not just talking about increasing the number of affiliates in their teams but also increasing their activities and profitability - teaching their downline to be all these.
In my opinion, the 1st thing to do is to ensure that you are of Team Leader level, at least EA2. As EA2 you have demonstrated that you can lead a team and SFI awards you with 2 new CSAs, allowed you to answer questions at ASK SC etc... It is a lot harder to inspire and motivate team members if you are an Affiliate, then if you are a proven leader.
The next point to address is your image that you project to your team.
Do you project a professional image?
Do you do what you say you would do?
Is your word solid?
Do you lead by example?
Do you do what you preach?
Do you inspire in your affiliates and prospectives confidence that you will lead them to successes?
Do you communicate with them clearly with care and respect?
The answers to these questions should be all Yes. If that is the case you will have quality signups and your people will be willing to work with you, follow your examples and follow your suggestions.
You do not have to directly teach your downline how to build their downline. You just simply go about building your team to the best of your abilities. If you are good, your team members will respond positively to your efforts and they will in turn naturally do the same to build their own downlines.
