This question is very similar to one that was recently asked and I will answer it in the same way - until you have an active team, it is pointless to spend your time becoming a TL.
Your time is better spent in preparation to become an excellent sponsor and Team Leader. You can do this by educating yourself. Complete the Launch Lessons, your daily to-do tasks (red tabs) and all of the other available trainings, especially how to become an outstanding sponsor.
While you are doing this you will likely pick up a CSA or PSA or two and you will want to start working with them in hopes of their becoming active. This is a good time to practice your communication skills with weekly communications like Team Mails, ECards, etc.
As you progress with your education and training with your downline you will be learning what works for you and what doesn't, how to advertise you gateway links and all the other new skills.
Once you have at least two active PSA's or CSA's, then strive for the Team Leader status. That's when it will start to pay off.
