Becoming a Team Leader is the dream of every affiliate. It carries perks, prestige and pay. However, it is possible to become a Team Leader without getting its maximum benefits. That is why the timing or the situation behind becoming a Team Leader becomes important.
Really, the choice of when to become a Team Leader is subjective. I'll try to elucidate.
Some are of the opinion that you should go as far as you can in your first month. They argue that the way you start determine how you last in the race. This may be true for some that start with so much energy and resources and somehow sustain the tempo for a long time. But for many others, that initial burst of energy fizzles out as from the second month when realities of the business dawn on them. Many one-time actions that gave Action VersaPoint (AVP) for the Team Leader rank will no longer be available!
If you become a Team Leader in your first month and you do not have active team immediately, the only benefit worthwhile is your share of Second Home CSAs. If these are active ones, then what a good compensation it would be, otherwise you enjoy your badges and that's all.
Some many others are of the opinion that you should become a Team Leader when you have active team. By active team we mean at least some EA2 in your first line (that is PSAs). Really, Matching VersaPoints you earn from your downline is the jewel of becoming a Team Leader. Matching VP is the term that is given for TripleClicks Executive Pool shares Team Leaders receive, based on the number of VP generated by their EA2s each month in their team up to 12th level (PTL & DTL). BTL receive Matching VP up to 6th level.
Since most people develop active team from their Second month and upwards, many opine that is the best time to become Team Leader.
It is a fact that becoming a Team Leader without a team of active affiliates is just like a minister without portfolio and such without the perks, power and gains of the office. Also, the cost of maintaining a Team Leader position without a team of active affiliates is high. Duplication gives you from 100 to 500 AVP (EA2 to PTL), which enables one to get the valuable Action VersaPoint for Team Leader qualification.
In a nutshell, there is no hard and fast rule. The best time to become a Team Leader should be immediately you have a team of active affiliate
