Regardless of their rank, an affiliate will always appreciate a gift certificate, a word of recognition and an advice relevant to their specifics. These are excellent tools for continuing to support and train PSAs who have advanced faster than their sponsors.
Such situations are actually frequent. I have a CSA who has outranked their sponsor. She has confided to me that she is not receiving any support. I also am in the same situation. My sponsor is not very active and is still an AFF. Even a PTL may have affiliates who advance to be Diamond Team Leaders (DTLs).
If a sponsor finds himself with PSAs who are advancing faster, he/she needs to be even more forthcoming and provide excellent support tailored to the individual circumstances of each of those PSAs. That is the condition for the sponsor to keep earning the affiliate’s respect and cooperation.
Continued success requires team work. A sponsor’s support is the first building block of that team work.
It is, in fact, an exciting situation! If you are in it, you can change what you seem to see as a challenge into excellent opportunities for business growth. Both you and your PSAs who are out ranking you will benefit from it.
These circumstances provide us with some of the best openings to forge mutually beneficial business relationships with our PSAs. The PSAs have proven their commitment, their drive and their ability to succeed. You should definitely continue to support them, by building one-to-one working relationships with such affiliates.
Team members can learn from one another, irrespective of their rank, and seniority in this business. Sponsors can learn from their affiliates, and downline will always benefit from input coming down to them.
The nature and content of the support you provide to successful team members should be different from the rest of your downline. Your communication with them should go beyond, mere periodic team mail and personal congratulation messages when they have won a prize or achieved a milestone.
Instead, you should give a personal touch to your communications with them, based on their level of success and the specifics of their achievements.
There are several areas where you can help them with insights in their businesses. For you to be relevant and effective there are some precautions and some preliminary work you will need to do:
For the precautions, you should start by showing your appreciation for their work. Congratulate them for their achievements, give them gift certificates. It does have to be expensive. The spirit of giving is much more important that the monetary value of the gift itself.
Next, approach these successful affiliates as friend who wants to learn from them. Focus on making them understand the value of team work and how they can benefit from your advice, input and support and how they can continue to grow their business working with you, building dynamic, efficient team work.
After you have laid the foundation of our friendship with them and built full trust, a sense of mutually beneficial partnership, make sure you are bringing something that is valuable to them. For example, you can look at their downline. How strong is their team; how many PSAs do they have? Are those PSAs also being successful?
You can also look at their VP Ledger. Are they maximizing all their potential? From such observations and others you can make, you will find ways to help them to continue to grow their businesses, in a manner that is highly relevant to their situation.
