Team Leader (TL) rank comes with a lot of benefits so you can aspire to become one at any time or as soon as it becomes feasible to do so. However, you may not want to become one for the sake of becoming a TL without adequate support for a successful and more beneficial outcome.
The best time will actually depend on your objectives, goals and may be your budget, but not withstanding, I suggest the following:
1. If you can afford it, set up a standing order of around 2000 VP for the maximum sales VP required and squeeze out around 500 VP from your daily, weekly and monthly actions. If your standing order is on Tcredits then you may be able to participate in auctions to earn more VP and some MRP which you can use to purchase more Tcredits and do more auctions to increase your VP.
This approach may not be sustainable or yield good returns (without active team) apart from may be winning some business building auction products like PSA/CSAs, receiving your share of second home CSAs and some free Tcredits. However, I do not necessarily consider this a very good business option.
2. If you have an active team where some members, may be 3 PSAs are consistently maintaining at least EA2 rank monthly, then you may start prepping for a TL rank. This is because these 3 PSAs will earn you 300 AVP which will contribute towards the VP required to become a team leader, plus direct commission which you can use to partly/fully pay for your standing order or to make other business related purchases. Also, take note of any CSA who consistently maintain EA2 rank as an additional benefits plus your PSA who are at least EA2 because you will earn VP Match from the TC Executive Pool as a result, if you become a BTL provided you meet other conditions.
As you can see, this appears to be a good time to advance from EA to TL in order to increase your benefit and enjoy other TL perks/benefits as stipulated in the Compensation Plan and Benefits Chart. More so you are not going to remove your foot from the pedal, but you are going to be consistent in working your business and expanding your team of active affiliates and as you go, the potential to get more benefits and earn more income will be enhanced.
I will conclude by adding that you do not need to remain an EA until everything is ok or set before you advance your rank, but if the potential has started to manifest you can advance in anticipation that it will even get better, in order to start enjoying the benefits and to use your rank for duplication purposes. Also note that it is not a crime to degrade from a TL to an EA if circumstance dictates so, which is akin to a strategic retreat, in order to re-strategise and probably come back stronger.
