Hello Mary Bird
I've been asking myself the same question and brainstorming about it for the past few months. I asked a similar question too in the Ask Sc on how to raise effective Team Leaders in my team, i came up with the following principle:
1. That's to lead by example. If am not yet a Team Leader even once in my SFI business then i've no right to tell them to become one.
2. Becoming a successful leader myself.
I realize in my time of brainstorming that it is essential to know the reason why i wanted to be a team leader in the past and now. I realized that it was because my sponsor and my upline leaders were very successful and they were earning well through their matching vps and the power of duplication. It was then i understood the importance of my sponsor's teaching on Team Building. I became a Team Leader for 4-5 months and i enjoyed it. So i told myself that i've to be successful too and prove the power of duplication and matching vp to my team before i can ask them to become one. When i did, i started having positive responses. They are already working to become Team Leaders even this month. So it is essential for you to be a successful Team Leader before you can tell your PSAs to become one. Be a motivation to them. They'l want to become one without your asking them too. That was what happened to me.
3. I started teaching them how to become Team Leaders, the reason why, the requirements, the benefits and the maintenance. I realize that they can't become what they don't know. I taught them in one of my weekly letters to them. I don't just want them to be Team Leaders, i want them to be effective ones that will produce the same in their team.
4. I updated my Leadership page for them with the context: How To Raise Effective Team Leaders In Your Team. My findings are what am sharing with you too.
5. I take charge as a leader by supporting them. I take responsibility in assisting them in every way to help them become Team Leaders.
6. I give incentives where necessary e.g assisting one of my hardworking active PSAs in getting an S Builder Co op. This boosts their morale more to build their team thus becoming Team Leaders.
7. I encourage their input/effort from time to time and i let them know, rewarding them when necessary.
8. I listen to my team members in the way they want to build their team and i pull away when necessary to help them execute their plans and wait for their signal for help along the way. This builds their business and leadership muscles.
9. I think positively. Why ? Because to become an effective Team Leader requires having an active team. I couldn't requalify as a BTL since Feb this year because of raising active EA2s. Now that am building them again, am hopeful that i'l regain my BTL rank again or surpass it and pull my team long with me as Team Leaders. So being positive helps me to keep my calm and not to rush my PSAs in becoming Team Leaders.
10. Building my attitude. How i behave to my team will determine whether they'l become it or not. If i show an uncaring attitude it will also show in their response to me and to their business. So i develop my attitude to be able to relate well with them thereby influencing them for the greater good. Like a quote says, 'your attitude determines your altitude'. So for them to rise to Team Leadership, i need to develop my attitude to show them what true leadership means for them to follow suit.
11. I had to have a good reason why i wanted them to actually want them to be leaders. I had to ask myself the question, ' why do i want to my PSAs to be Team Leaders?' The answer i gave myself was i wanted my team to be successful and to build a residual income for my team and am gradually achieving it.
These are ways that i'm using and doing to raise my PSAs and their team as Team Leaders. Hope u'l find it useful for yourself too.
Good luck, my friend.
