There is actually no one best marketing aid to use because all of them are important depending on your objectives and the goal for achieving them. Again some of these aids are complementary, so a proper deployment of a set aids, instead of one supposedly 'best' aid may be a better strategy.
Having said this, there are basically 2 sets of marketing aids; TC sales and signups (PSAs, ECAs and PRMs), as such different aids work for different people depending on what you set out to do but personally, let me share some that have worked for me in order of success;

These aids are better used within your warm market or your mailing list but ensure you avoid spamming. There are several ones for SFI prospects and another for TC, so just choose the one you prefer and make it a duty to send a particular number of e-cards on a daily basis. I base the effectiveness of these e-cards on the presumption that they are attractive and like greeting cards they appear unique, very friendly, warm and not so easy to overlook.
2. I have also found text ads very useful if properly applied; you can use some of them as signatures in your email messages, forum (not SFI) contributions, letters etc. the extent to which this is effective is determine by the power of the content to which they are appended as signature, so very short ad text may be proper for this purpose. Again beware of spamming!
3. Another aid is the Flyer; these are very mobile and you can physically place them at a place relevant to your target audience. The major advantage of this is that you can determine in advance the segment of the population that will likely see these Flyers because you have control over the distribution.
