First you have to plan.
Who are you going to invite? What are you going to show them? What are you going to talk about. Are you going to have any projectors or a board for drawing out things for illustration purposes? Will there be any key speakers? Review your plans and make sure everything is organized so as to recruit and not to confuse people. Make sure you have plenty of cards on hand to give out.
Second: Set you date, time and place.
Make sure your date leaves plenty of time to get out your Flyers and/or invitations. Print out plenty of Flyers and/or invitations. Post and/or mail flyers and invitations.
Third: Arrive early on date of event.
Arrive early enough to have meeting room completely set up and organized for your guest. Make sure seating is arranged so everyone can see and hear clearly. Have all your materials organized so that there is no confusion when you start your presentation. If possible, have donuts, coffee and water available for guest as they arrive.
Forth: Be prepared to greet guest as they arrive.
If you have a Fast Track Pin, make sure you are wearing it. Greet guest, introduce yourself and offer coffee and donuts as you are waiting for others to arrive. Some small talk could include finding out what they do for a living and possibly what their goals are for the future. This could help you while you are doing your presentation.
Fifth: Make sure you begin on time
Begin your presentation on time. If people arrive late, they will seat themselves and this should not interrupt you. Make sure you let people ask questions at the end. Provide everyone with sign up information before they leave. Also give them your business card with your contact information.
