I guess, the old ways of prospecting still works effectively, without being charged of spamming.
Spamming is something that people aren't feeling comfortable enough. And mainly used within online method. Sometimes we marketers becomes so greedy that we blast promoting to everyone without knowing their rights for a peace.. haha..
Here's an example of an offline that happens just a few minutes ago, while I was walking pass through a couple of salesman. They looks friendly and they approach each passerby, the place were quite crowded and everyone seems busy rushing time. One just standing by the wall distributing brochure while a few steps away is a dustbin and everyone throws it back into the bin. The other two, each one speaks to their prospect asking for few minutes of their time, and these prospects really looks uncomfortable with them.
I see them as desperate salesman. Maybe its the same goes to online marketing, we may not realise it but it does happens and thats how 'spamming' got its name.
My Solution is;
Relax, if we know we got something valuable, this valuables has value, and only valuable people who has the right mindset will understand it. And as we have teach our children to beware of strangers, therefore everyone will be more cautious in doing business with strangers.
So be a friend first.
Talk to millions and make good relationship. Once they read more about you from your blog or website, they will be the one who will ask you how to..
