We are all told to be awesome sponsors and co-sponsors, and I do my best to be that. I have a five star rating from my team, so they seem to think I am doing a good job. However, the question is how important is it to have a good sponsor and co-sponsor?
It is an advantage to have a good sponsor and have someone to go to for advice, and someone who will go in to bat for you when you can't get results from an ECA or something like that. (I had to do this for one of my team)
Although it is an advantage and probably makes one feel good to have a good sponsor or co-sponsor, I don't believe it's that important to your success in SFI. I have a sponsor who doesn't even know of my existence - he's never sent me an e-card or congratulated me on becoming EA, or ever answered a single email I've sent him. My co-sponsors change frequently, and I've only ever heard from one of them, but he basically said, "well you seem to be doing okay without me," and that was about the end of it.
I do not let this attitude from a sponsor hinder me. I find out everything I need to from SFI's training, from my a2a friends, from the Forum and Ask SC. When all else fails and I can't find an answer, I send an email to support. Our support team are fantastic and have sorted out a wide range of problems for me. Once I didn't get the VP for a sale to one of my PRMs. Somehow she had been registered with another affiliate. But Bonnie persevered and sought it out and fixed the problem. They have explained things to me that I didn't understand and really gone the extra mile for me. I would appreciate a relationship with my sponsor, but it's not really that important. I can do very well, and will do very well without him.
If you are in the same situation as me with a sponsor who is so far removed from you as to not know you are there, don't use it as an excuse or reason to fail. You can succeed without him/her, by using all the other great resources SFI has provided us with!
