I suspect you'll get a number of differing answers to this poignant question. Here is my take on the question of Sponsorship and Co-Sponsorship. People throughout SFI keep talking about 'duplication' but from my perspective the only 'duplication' that will happen is downstream from me. My sponsor has been almost totally absentee. She doesn't even put anything into stream post, I haven't gotten any; feedback, incentives, rewards, congratulations, advice, or anything else. The only reason I don't mark her down to zero is I'm too softhearted - or because I'm a go it on my own person and luckily so in this case.
I'm not really complaining here because I think that if your sponsor is not a comet whose tail you can grab for an easy ride up, you will have to eventually exceed your sponsor to succeed on your own merits.
I suspect that there are more poor sponsors than there are good ones - yet people like me are still succeeding somehow. (my case is bull-headed determination) So I have to believe that having a good sponsor is nice but not critical.
My Co-Sponsor is only recent for me as I suppose I got reassigned. He posts in the stream but it's mostly inspirational in nature. The co-sponsor doesn't have nearly the same vested interest in CSA's as in PSA's I think. So if you get a really helpful one it's a bonus.
I say you should plan on doing it mostly on your own. Then if you don't get lucky in the Sponsor & Co-Sponsorships t won't be demoralizing.
