We need not compare both as they are to be used in different situations
If a group message is to be sent which is same for all we may use the SFI mailers. But to communicate individually, personal mails can be used.
Also,in the beginning if mails go through SFI, it will create an authentic impression of the message. Later, once the rapport is established and people know each other, you may use other modes.
