The best methods will have to do with your target audience or maybe you do have a specific target, however, this emphasis here will be to minimize wastage. On a general basis, some best methods are listed below in my opinion:
1. The one that works best for me is face-to-face prospecting where I have the opportunity to engage the prospect indoor and outdoor before I give out the card and do all I can to exchange contacts for follow ups.
2. Another one that has worked for me is to give it to business owners like internet cafe, restaurants, gas station, sports centre etc. Some accept to distribute them for free, but I generally like to offer something to the business owner to help distribute them diligently, like using it as an offer for purchases in his store.
3. If you have a website or blog, you may add a gift card image for online distribution. You may even distribute them with some conditions like signing up for your news letter or offering them on the basis of making a certain minimum purchase of your other products/service or from TC. This works very well if you are willing to take the risk of impersonators.
4. The sales marketers that often knock at your door to promote their businesses and products are another good opportunity that has worked for me.
5. You may need to organise an event or a working get together, seminar or webinar to promote TC and promote attendance by offering gift card to the first 20 attendees for example.
6. Seeing is believing, so make do with a convenient stationary position, possibly with your lap top and invite passers-by to a brief discussion and demonstration, and then you can give out gift cards to any enthusiastic prospect and ensure to exchange contact where possible.
I will finally add that, in order maximize positive results, you may need to see to the possibility where you put yourself in a position to follow up after giving out a gift card.
