Cold calling in 2015 would be very ineffective as a means of obtaining SFI PSA. Ask yourself the very same question you propose. When was the last time you were cold called and actually cared what the seller who was calling was selling? If you said recently, I would say you are amongst a very limited population.
Although, cold calling at one time used to be an effective method, that is if it was conducted correctly, it has long been dead. The main reason is technology.

Instant messaging
Let us face it, people just don't want to pick up the phone anymore unless they know whom it is that is calling.
It’s to darn easy to avoid cold callers, plain and simple.
Even if you are lucky to get someone on the line, 99 out of 100 won't be interested. The Internet has changed the way we do things or more specifically our buying habits. We control what is sold to us not the seller and that changed the entire landscape of sales.
The Internet has given customers a means of researching all the competition arming themselves before even getting to the point of dealing with a salesperson. People flat out don't want to be sold to before they are ready to buy and this is why cold calling is flat out non effective in this day and age.
Targeting advertising, whether it be on the Internet or flyers is a better, more effective means leads sourcing. The most effective method in my opinion to gather new leads is to place yourself in the buyers shoes and ask yourself what would you search for and what would spur you to come to or click on an SFI link or sign up on someones SFI gateway page.
This is a very powerful exercise. Once you place yourself in your prospective PSA shoes and understand exactly what they are looking for then you can effectively target them in many ways to sign up under you as their sponsor. This is what you should focus your efforts on and shy away from what is now a dead source of leads gathering in that of cold calling.
