I have tried doing this and from experience it seems that they then lose the motivation to continue anyway. If it can be explained and understood from the very first conversation you have with them, it may work successfully, however it seems to put a stop to them ever trying again especially if they have gotten to Team Leader in the first month and then find they have to start over the next month without the benefit of having the once only actions on their VP Ledger.
I personally went up to Silver Team Leader in my first month and my sponsor never said a word, except that I should focus on building my team now. That seemed to work for me because for the next month I did struggle but I had a goal. Build my team and learn more about the business. So I will not advise my PSA to slow down anymore, rather keep advising them on the many ways to build their team.
