Tie the SFI opportunity to something they want to achieve, i.e., a retirement fund, giving their children a good education, being able to buy something they have always wanted, etc., and that may fuel their interest. But be very upfront with them with what SFI is and what it is not. Emphasize that what they will get out of it will be in proportion to what work they put into it.
