Thanks for asking such a great question! The best way to evaluate traffic exchanges for SFI is to determine which produce the best results. Best results would be to get affiliates that are actively involved in their SFI business. They don't have to be 'heavy hitters' just responsive! Hence, you need to quantify the metrics that you are going to track for each gateway. What metrics are important to you? Let's say that you are testing 2 sites to see which produces the most hits to our free gateway. Then, set the duration of the test. Hits are not all sign-ups. Sign-ups are not all 'movers'. So, let's suppose traffic exchange A produced 500 hits and 10 signups. Traffic exchange B produced 1000 hits and 3 sign-ups. The duration was set at 30 days and you promoted equally on each exchanges. On first examination site A appears to be the winner but upon closer examination, you found that of the 10 signups you got on site A, only 1 became EA2. Whereas, site B produced only 3 sign-ups but they all became EA2. The more you examine beneath the numbers you will find these types of discrepancies. Site B is the winner! You would have to continue to monitor this because numbers change! Test, retest, and test again! There are 100s of thousands out there - good luck.
