First of all, my advice would be that you don't invest in sfi before you and at least one of your members become EA2, and don't invest before your ECA-s make their first commissions.
The moment when one of your members (CSA, PSA)becomes EA2 you start to earn money on SFI, and in that moment it is worth to invest in SFI. I know a few people who started investing immediately when they joined SFI. And they couldn't find more members to make a team and all their invested money was worthless.
To sum it up - what's the point in being EA2 when you don't have productive members in your team? There's no point in investing in SFI if none of your members haven't increased their rank past three months.
However, if you have a case when your team members are productive and diligent, then the reason you should invest in SFI is rewarding yourself for your accomplishments. More investing doesn't mean a loss - it means more profit.
Write on a paper types of investment you would like to do. Then pick the ones that look more appealing, and try them out! I hope I was at least close in resolving your question.
