One effective way is a word of encouragement or motivation.
If you see an affiliate working hard to build a strong team and prosperous business, tell them that they're doing a great job. Give 'em a little nudge, but don't push them too hard. Otherwise, they'll just say "screw this [bleep]" and just give up on SFI altogether (of course, we don't want that).
Another way, if you're a team leader, is to also assume the role of teammate. Let your affiliates know that you're on the same level. Some get turned off by Leaders who throw their weight around like the head honcho. Communicate with them like you'd be talking with a bunch of old pals getting together over some snacks and beer and they'll really get the ball rolling in building their businesses and teams.
Let me apologize for my answer, but I like to address a question with a little humor. I wish you the best of success!
