Yes, there is such thing as helping our affiliates too much. There are three instances that I would say that helping becomes too much that in can undermine long term sustainability.
1. When we help someone develop dependency - We should never encourage affiliates to depend on us. We must teach them to do it themselves not you doing things for them. No matter how slow it will be teach them how to fish rather than giving them fish.
Example: He needs to put an ads somewhere and he ask you to do it for him by giving you his link, because he don't understand the process. Well instead of putting the ads yourself, help him to understand the process and let him post his ads.
2. When the help you give only have a short term or insignificant effect. You will find this very common in your affiliates who will ask for money or gift certificate or TC so that he add to his VP.
Even if he will become EA for the amount you give but you know that he can not maintain it the following month (unless you give him again) without having active affiliates, or worst no affiliate at all.
The best to do is really to encourage him find affiliates first so that when you help it can be sustained the next month.
3. When you they are already annoyed because you are bombarding them with not so valuable information and unsolicited advice. - We must only have 1 or two messages per week for everybody and the rest should be personalized according to the need of the individual.
Aside from these three, give all the help you can to those who need and ask for it. It will never be too much.
