Text Ad Exchanges is run by certain website and you sign up to read ads and in return you also promote your own ads, while Safelist is totally under your control. You carefully collect email address from people who would agree to receive email from you and ads is sent through email.
Text Ad exchanges is less effective for several reasons.
1. People in ad exchanges are not really interested on the ads, they are interested on posting their ads.
2. You have limited words that are allowed in most Ad exchanges.
Therefore Safelist is better for the following reasons:
1. They agree to receive email ads from you - therefore they are interested to what you will say.
2. You are not limited to what you will say, therefore you can explain properly what you are presenting.
BUT it is more difficult to build a safelists. Here is my suggestion to build safelist who will continuously be interested on what you will send them and will not mark your email as spam later.
1. Have your own website where they will first see sample of the content that they will be receiving through email.
2. Collect emails from your website properly - Do not use deceitful scheming, promising something which you can not provide. Tell them what to expect if they opt in.
3. Give freebies- Ebooks are best freebies, gift certificates and coupons are also good.
4. Send email with quality content. Focus on quality content on the niche that you are presenting not on your affiliate link, then insert your affiliate link somewhere in your email as part of your quality content.
5. Have a proper email spacing - the best is once a week.
