The best way of promoting is the way that works for you. Which are you more comfortable with? Are you good at speaking to people about difficult subjects? SFI is simple but it can be a bit daunting for someone who knows nothing about internet marketing or ecommerce. Are you good at written communication? Can you express your thoughts clearly in an email?
Therefore I recommend that you know your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to promoting SFI. If you try to promote locally and more personally and you are not a people person then you will fail. Likewise, if you are unable to clearly communicate in writing you will fail if you try to market online. Which ever you are the best equipped for practice will make it better!
