Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome.
While criticising, make sure you don't concentrate on the negative. State clearly the positive things he/she has done right.
Then, whenever you are trying to point to the negative things that you think he/she has done, you should not put it in form of suggestion like, I think ... is better than ....
Positive but Constructive criticism must always focus on the work rather than the person. Personality issues must always be avoided.
Let your criticism be timely i.e, immediately the event happened. Do not criticise an event that happened about two weeks or more unless the event repeats itself.
Let your criticism be clear, specific, detailed and actionable.
In a team work like SFI, this kind of criticism is a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards.
