We do not know if the affiliate went looking for a better opportunity elsewhere or if the affiliate had a medical condition or family tragedy they had to attend to. Basically, be wary of your judgment of the affiliates reason for being absent from SFI.
Simply welcome them back, offer you support, ask them how you may help them, how you can be there for them. This may be what they need to hear most at this time. A nonjudgmental welcome back, with the knowledge they will have support as they begin to learn SFI.
