What attitudes make the difference between achieving mediocrity and success?

According to my ideology, achieving mediocrity is just the development of a nature of kind of showmanship, which makes one feel that he/she has been working hard and have a good status but actually it is lacking all that is shown in the person's behavior.

Where as the person who really wants to achieve success has a quite different attitude.
He/she will never try to show off how hard they are working instead they concentrate on their efforts and try to maximize it and what they show
