I'm an ECA wanting to sell my products internationally. How do I determine how much to charge for shipping to other countries that is fair to both me and my customers?
As a US ECA you can have TripleClicks automatically calculate shipping to ensure you are giving the recipient the best deal possible. Just be sure to get an accurate weight for your item and when possible dimensions of the packaging you will be shipping in.
There is a lot of call for overseas members for items listing free shipping but I have seen countless ECA burned on adding in too little. For one you will have no choice but to increase your price to cover the shipping and that can make it appear that you are overcharging because you have to figure not all orders are going to be the cheap inside the U.S. rates.
It's better I am finding out to go ahead and lose the one or two sales a month who demand free shipping than to price yourself out of the market completely trying to calculate shipping cost into your final prices. You will find most who demand the free shipping are from countries where shipping to them is most expensive. They are trying to take advantage of you by getting a flat rate instead of paying the full shipping cost.
We manufacture several of our products and based on doing free shipping we have to nearly triple the selling price to cover international orders to Africa or Pakistan etc..
