To my mind, the Member Listings are like "baby steps" at TripleClicks; they teach you how to list products and prepare you to promote them, and you earn VersaPoints at the same time.
A successful listing informs and entices: The title is well-formed and contains as many keywords as will comfortably fit; the description contains as much information in as friendly a manner as possible; and the pictures show the item at its best, making it its most desirable.
So say, for example, you're selling a digital watch that's been languishing in your jewelry drawer since 1974 (I'll admit I have one of these!). Describe it in terms of its color and other properties in the title--something like "Vintage 1974 Chrome LED Men's Digital Watch" will tell the buyer everything he or she needs to know at first glance. The description will be a combination of technical details and enticing text:
"This men's Seiko digital watch is chrome, with buttons that activate the red LEDs, displaying date, time and seconds. It's futuristic, streamlined look gives the watch a lasting appeal, and it's also perfect for someone who loves to stand out."
The description would then continue with the technical details, regarding make, model, batteries, and so on, but probably by this point, the sale is made or the prospect is just not interested. It's as good an example as anyone could want.
