Many networking and multilevel marketing companies encourage to recruit from your "warm" market. The reasoning is sound; the closer you are to someone the more they trust you. Your business should always be built on trust. In my own personal instant my family and friends have seen my exuberance as something to avoid so they may not trust what I am doing as I have done it so many times.
On the other hand you must define strangers. Salespeople of many products have a reputation of approaching total strangers in order to sell their products. Many people are very leery of this approach as well. But I ask: is advertising via a blog, website or classified ad appealing to a stranger? This is where I have found my greatest success so far.
I feel to approach family and/or friends you should have enjoyed a small amount of success. People love a winner and if you can show a certain amount of success family and friends are more likely to hear you out on how SFI can work for them.
