I use both, Individual and Team Mail.

The new e-cards, are very effective, as an eye-catcher. I use the "Welcome e-cards" for each individual, with a short welcome message, and advising them to read team mail, for
advise in how to start and make their first 500 VP

I also follow with other e-cards, if they make 500 VP, in first 24 hours, or attain EA
as well as contacting affiliates that "do not move"

As per Team mail, I send them a series of mails, with tips in various Launchpad, and other links, to SFI and TripleClicks.

I find a combination of this two methods, works very well for me
