Hello Ovidio as well as all of SFI this is a great question,
What is the best way to contact a prospective ECA?
in my personal opinion I do most of me ECA searches online so I would say by Email I have 1 ECA at the moment with 2 possible ones maybe joining from this method!
the main way to attract "Local" ECA's is still and will always be face to face I am typing up my best proposal letter this week and tweaking it to make it even better!
Then with a stack of ECA brochures and the letters printed on TripleClicks Letterhead I will be walking to my downtown business district (after I call the different businesses) and make sure that I can come in on that day I will be building my business and their businesses as well!!
for both of these methods I typed up a great message getting the prospective client(s) to sign up at or TripleClicks store as an ECA
For anyone new to sales and marketing closing the deal can be scary at first till you get use to explaining the proposal clearly and precisely but doing it by Email first can help alleviate those first time jitters once you got the knowledge down to an art it will become easier to discuss in person (it's the not knowing an answer to their question that makes it a feared thing to begin doing)
Arm yourself with Knowledge this is one key to remember in any business. Without knowledge there is no sale or referral because the fact is you CANNOT sell someone something you know nothing about. If when you started working with SFI back in 2013 say you had no experience with marketing and sales and were a true newbie then as with anything you are truly wanting to invest your time and or money into you have to learn all you can about the company, the business model, compensation plan, and the different ways to earn a commission one being the ECA program.
You would not buy stocks or bonds from a company you knew nothing about and the same goes for the ECA program
What you are doing so far is the right thing asking your own questions in Ask SC, now you also should go to our forum and research prior questions/answers, as well if you cannot find an answer, to ask one yourself many of our finest leaders (including Gery) are always at the forum to answer any question we all might have
And of course rejection is still there you cannot avoid it I figure (overall with SFI in my opinion) out of every 9 no's I'll get 1 yes. For every no I am that much closer to getting a yes and possibly get a star ECA who you both will benefit from the relationship that has just begun.
One way to help alleviate this rejection and fear is to have your own ECA store I will be opening one hopefully by the end of this year if I can find a niche that we do not have in our TripleClicks store yet and is feasible in terms of shipping the items for free and has a good margin for profit I am still looking for those criteria but things are looking up at the moment
Having your own store gives you the KNOWLEDGE you need to expand you list of ECA's on your team knowing how to sign up, what paperwork is needed, and how to list an item for the first time as well as knowing the ins and outs of our TripleClicks ECA site, examples being - how to find an order that was just placed or how to receive your payments or how to make a price change or delete a listing are all necessary
to sum it all up both in person and email are great ways to contact a prospective ECA, it just depends on how comfortable you are right now at doing face to face prospecting.
I really hope this information has helped you I know I went a little off topic but I felt it was important to point out the whole story too
Thanks
I will see you at the top
