1. Why did the attack occur?
2. What has SFI done about it?
Second question first, if you are reading this forum you know what SFI did about it. They aggressively enhanced their security. In part it made things a bit harder for us all but we will all be safer. SFI also helped affected affiliates to resume their account activity and regain their losses. 90% of us or more, were only affected by SFI's enhancements and SFI made sure we all retained our standing in VP, badges and such until the changes where in effect and not just until they got the changes in place, but until ever affiliate navigated those changes. That is a great company.
Now the first and really important question. Why were we attacked? Cyber criminals follow the money. They do not attack minor businesses or operations. They attack people where they can get in and out with a boat load of money. They will not take great risk or waste their efforts on penetrating businesses that are not preforming.
The short answer is: SFI is preforming and SFI watches out for their Affiliates.
