We all learn after a short period of time that 'Sponsors' are typically TEAM Leaders in positions of BTL, STL, GTL, or PTL positions that have done a lot of advertising and have thousands of Affiliates under them (at least at the Gold and Platinum levels). Do they have the time to answer questions? Usually not... unless you are persistent in asking them, and don't ask 'silly' questions that could have been easily answered had you spent a little time and read the SFI materials.
The most practical advice I can give is to READ and STUDY the SFI training materials as you get started.
By all means; introduce yourself to your Sponsor and Co-sponsor. They will respond if they see that you are serious. Too many people start off thinking they will get rich overnight and don't even bother to read the SFI Basics or LaunchPad training materials! Sorry. But's that's the truth.
If you want to develop a relationship with your Sponsor and/or Co-sponsor, take the time and effort to initiate communication.
