Being a school teacher I understand fully what you are referring to.We are also rated annually by our heads of department as well as other colleagues to determine our individual performance in various categories. You are required to rate yourself and then the different ratings are compared to determine your performance level for the academic year and whether you qualify for the annual 1% salary increment.
No person asks for criticism, but if you are involved in activities where you are of service to others, criticism is automatically part of your life. Each person wants to protect themself and obviously you are convinced that you are the best educator around. Until you realise how others observe you and your way of educating. Then a person comes to the realisation that "you never arrive" and the room for improvement never disappears.
