Qualifying as a team leader is just an entry criteria. What needs to happen after is not only important to you as a leader but its equally important, if not more, for the members who are a part of your team.Leading a team in SFI is not significantly different than leading a team in your office environment. Both require the same time,effort and empathy. The only difference is physical Vs virtual That also is undergoing a change as more and more leaders are managing business virtually.
First and foremost we are responsible for careers, aspirations of our team members. Then comes the following:
1. Empathy - Have empathy to the needs & aspirations of hte associates.
2. Knowledge - Try passing on experiences to enhance knowledge. Help them constantly upgrade their knowledge
3. Empower - Facilitate their ability to do tasks/to take decisions on their own.
4. Update - Provide them with knowledge of their business and also knowledge of the industry.
5. Belonging - Develop a sense of belonging by helping them morally,constantly motivating them developing a sense of belonging.
6. Enthuse - Come out with schemes, contests which can enthuse them to be more participative.
Most importantly we as leaders need to make ourselves redundant for the team. The reason why I am saying redundant is because redundancy comes out of equipping the team in full which means we would have done our job by passing all the knowledge we have acquired over a period of time.
