I believe that, while it may seem in your best interest to sell the more expensive items because of the larger commissions, it's actually better to market the cheaper to moderately priced items. Why? Think about it. If you live in a large city, you have 3 sides to the consumer triangle. The wealthy, the mid-level earners, and the low-income/poverty consumers.
Now think of the ratio of wealthy to mid-level and low-income. The trend is that there are more of the mid-level to low-income consumers in any given city or town. Based on what I have learned in college and throughout my years in independent marketing, is that you want to appeal to your majority. And it's not really even on a monetary issue. It's mainly psychological. But that's a whole thing in of itself for another day.
