Offer support and encouragement yourself. You may already do this, but being encouraging rather than expecting can get better results. Make sure that your encouragement can not be misinterpreted into something negative as well. It's very hard to decipher tone through text, and some people may take one form of wording the wrong way.
Consider starting a conversation with them trying to see how things are going. Ask if they need any help or might have any advice that you could find helpful. You may get advice back that you already knew, but at least they tried. If they need help, do your best to assist them.
If you get a conversation going back and forth between the two of you, you will probably never run out of things to talk about when it comes to SFI.
