I think we have probably all faced this problem. Either with other people or with our own thinking.
Fact is that the vast majority of affiliates with SFI don't have friends or relatives in their team. Or if they do then it is in such a small quantity to be almost neglible.
To be honest, I don't want friends or relatives in my team, at least not in the early stages. It is to easy to be affected by negative comments from them. At least with strangers once they give you a negative comment they are gone and you can move on. Friends and relatives can keep hitting you with negativity and make it difficult to move on. Please remember though that negative comments are only made through ignorance of the program.
Remember that even if you don't know how to advertise to get signups that SFI runs a co-op every month (SBuilder) that will grow your team for you. Also a lot of sponsors are running co-ops for their teams as well.
I have around 900 people in my team and didn't know a single one of them before SFI. I don't know them all but I have made quite a few friends from all over the world this way.
Excuses are easy but get you no where. To actually have to work to make a difference is more difficult. Most people will take the easy way.
