Hello David,
When you are rejected during advertising, it offers us two opportunities: firstly, it is an opportunity to re-examine your own methods and secondly, it is a chance to move on to something better. A prophet is only a carrier of the message; he is not the message himself. So when you are rejected, do not take it personal. So let us look at these two opportunities:
1 Method of approach: In a lecture, sometimes students can be put off by the way the lecturer is teaching. This implies presentation is very important in getting your message through to the audience. When it comes to advertising, I think the secrete is to do it with a smile and without being seen to be nagging the recipients of your message.
2. Something Better? Every rejection is a blessing in disguise. It allows us to look at other ways. When we fall, we have not failed if we can stand up and continue.
You will recall that in 1914, Thomas Edison invented the phonograph, only three weeks after all his work had gone up in smoke in a fire in his factory Unlike what most of us would do after surveying our ruins, the next morning, Edison, did not say, “Oh my God, what shall I do?” Instead, he shouted, “There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God, we can start again.”
As another great man, Bob Marley once sung, “When one door is closed, many more is open.”
In conclusion, don’t let those who reject your adverts throw you off course. Maintain your belief and confidence. Your persistence will finally pay off. Like a captain of a ship sometimes you will face strong winds but continue sailing.
Cheers!
